It's non-fiction (like memoirs and all that) that you tend to give a more narrative format and you can speculate on what a person might have been thinking, things like that. Basically, non-fiction is facts/truth. Creative non-fiction lets you speculate where you aren't sure, so long as it's clear you're just speculating.
